(11 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Casablanca, Essaouira, Marrakesh, and Fez
This tour visits three of Morocco's most enticing cities, with accommodation
at luxurious -- and extremely stylish! --traditional "guesthouses"
(ryads).
Casablanca and Essaouira
- After an introductory tour of Casablanca, drive to the relaxed coastal town of Essaouira, with its Moroccan, Portuguese, and Berber architectural influences.
- Spend several days taking in the town's narrow streets lined with whitewashed buildings, cafes, and craft workshops.
Marrakesh
- Next, drive to Marrakesh, where you'll stay in the prestigious Palmery district at the Jnane Tamsna.
- Experience this festive city's unique landscape, dotted with groves of olive, orange, and palm trees, weathered pink adobe-style buildings, and public squares filled with artists and performers.
- Visit favorite Marrakesh souks, palaces, gardens, and monuments, whose elegant beauty comes from a careful combination of light, water, symmetry, and color.
- Take an excursion to the High Atlas Mountains for a morning market that attracts Berber nomads and local villagers from miles away, in search of livestock and general goods.
- Back in Marrakesh, browse the city's most stylish shops, galleries, and restaurants.
Fez
- Continue to Fez the intellectual heart of Morocco.
- Spend several days exploring the ancient Medina, filled with mosques and universities, and fine restaurants.
- Make your way down narrow alleyways that have been devoted to the sale of leather goods, olives, spices, copper bowls, and musical instruments for centuries.
- Relax in your Fez accommodations: the intimate and luxurious La Maison Bleue, situated in the heart of the Medina and ideal for up-close examination of the Medina's blue mosaic tiles, finely carved cedar doors, stained glass windows, and wrought ironwork.
- At night, dine at La Maison Bleue's candlelit rooftop terrace.
- Enjoy aromatic traditional dishes such as cooked salads, succulent lamb tajines, pastilla with milk and almonds, oranges with cinnamon and orange flower water, and mint tea.
