London, Cotswolds
On this private luxury tour, explore the traditions of the influential Arts and Crafts movement, which emerged in the late 19th century and celebrated traditional skills, handmade objects and the individual craftsman. Tour beautiful homes designed by innovators such as William Morris, see important Arts and Crafts objects and sites, and explore the Cotswolds, the bucolic region that inspired many artists associated with the movement.
Begin in London, the birthplace of the Arts and Crafts movement. During private touring with an art expert, visit the legendary Victoria & Albert Museum and tour the Emery Walker House, famous for its William Morris interiors. Also, experience Victorian-era cultural influences in the Linley Sambourne House, filled with eclectic decor, and Leighton House, renowned for its Arab-themed mosaic floors, tile-covered walls and gilded ceilings. One day, take a private excursion to Red House, the only building commissioned by William Morris, which is known for its vernacular style and surrounding gardens. Also, visit nearby Eltham Palace, a model of Art Deco opulence.
Continue to the Cotswolds, a beautiful region of rolling hills and small villages where many Arts and Crafts practitioners set up their businesses. Visit Kelmscott Manor, the country house of William Morris, and explore villages such Chipping Campden and Cheltenham, where many Arts and Crafts-related buildings and interiors remain in use. Tour country estates and gardens, and browse local shops dedicated to the traditional design still thriving in the Cotswolds.
All touring is flexible and also includes visits to our favorite neighborhoods, museums, specialty shops, food markets, historic pubs and private gardens.
