The birthplace of the Slow Food movement, Piedmont is famous for fantastic cuisine and acclaimed wines, including Barolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Roero. With a local insider guide, go behind-the-scenes to visit the wineries, food producers, kitchens and restaurants that make this region a renowned gourmet capital.

Sample refined Barolos and other wines at a top winery with organic vineyards. Enjoy scenic touring of charming hill towns such as La Morra and Castiglione Falletto, which are part of a regional UNESCO World Heritage Site. During a private cooking class, learn to prepare Piedmontese dishes such as hazelnut cake, agnolotti (ravioli-like filled pasta) and bagna cauda (anchovy, olive oil and garlic) dip with vegetables. Also enjoy a private cheese-making experience—Piedmont is one of Italy’s most acclaimed and diverse cheese regions. One day, enjoy a private excursion in the forested hills to hunt for Piedmont’s prized truffles with a trifulau (truffle hunter) and his dog. Visit the beautiful market town of Alba, home of the Alba International Truffle Fair, which takes place annually from mid-October to mid-November. Artisans of Leisure will also arrange reservations at Michelin-starred and other favorite local restaurants to try Piedmont specialties such as white truffles, Castelmagno and Robiola cheese, tarajin pasta, grilled rabbit, vitello tonnato (veal with tuna sauce) and gianduja (chocolate with hazelnuts).

The Piedmont region of Italy combines well with Milan, Lake Como, the South of France and other destinations.
