This private tour of England focuses on the best of the beautiful English countryside—spectacular country houses, extraordinary gardens, charming villages, historic attractions, and gourmet cuisine—balanced with time in London to enjoy its cultural attractions, upscale shops and more.

Upon arrival in London, begin your private touring during your transfer to Bath. Visit impressive Windsor Castle, one of the official homes of Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family, and the oldest continuously inhabited castle in the world. During private touring in Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed city, see ancient hot spring baths, Georgian architecture, gardens and more. If desired, also see Stonehenge, an iconic ring of standing stones that’s one of England’s most enduring landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Continue with your expert driver-guide to the Cotswolds, a picturesque region of rolling hills and quaint villages. En route, visit Highgrove, the royal gardens of Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and enjoy time for lunch featuring local ingredients at the garden restaurant. Visit Hidcote Manor Garden and Kiftsgate Court Gardens, two favorite gardens in the Cotswolds, as well as a local lavender farm. Also explore the ancient ruins of Chedworth Roman Villa, and visit charming villages to browse markets, galleries and antiques shops. While in the Cotswolds, stay at Buckland Manor, a luxurious stone manor house hotel surrounded by manicured grounds.

Next, continue to Oxfordshire and Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, a refined country estate with extensive grounds, including vegetable gardens providing fresh produce for the hotel’s renowned restaurant. En route, visit Daylesford, an upscale organic farm, food shop and restaurant.  Also tour Chastleton House, a 17th-century Jacobean-style country house with a circular topiary garden, a kitchen garden and lawns where the rules for croquet were created. Or, visit Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill and a sprawling UNESCO World Heritage Site of grand 18th-century Baroque buildings and formal gardens on a 2,000-acre English landscape park designed by Capability Brown.

One day, enjoy a private tour of Oxford and the University of Oxford, one of the most prestigious universities in the world. Tour interesting architecture, museums, libraries and other attractions, and perhaps see filming locations used in the Harry Potter movies. (Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can also arrange a VIP tour of Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter.)

The tour concludes in London with a stay at one of the city’s best luxury hotels. Private touring will be customized to your interests. First-time visitors may wish to visit famous landmarks such as the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, the British Museum, Covent Garden, the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Buckingham Palace. Explore London’s incredible museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, Sir John Soane’s Museum, Imperial War Museum and the Tate museums. Also visit London’s local markets, hidden squares, sophisticated neighborhoods and other highlights. Artisans of Leisure will also arrange reservations for dining and afternoon tea, book tickets to performances and provide recommendations for the best shopping in London.
