Ultimate Iceland

(10 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Reykjavik, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Langjokull Glacier, Golden Circle, South Iceland, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon

This private tour features Iceland's most spectacular and diverse landscapes. Experience the cultural highlights of Iceland's capital city, dramatic coastlines of Snaefellsnes Peninsula, the interior of a glacier, stunning waterfalls, black sand beaches, a stunning glacier lagoon and much more.

Enjoy insider touring of the highlights of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. Tour cultural highlights such as the National Museum of Iceland or Reykjavik Art Museum to gain further insight into Iceland's history and contemporary culture. See the iconic architecture of Hallgrimskirkja Church. Artisans of Leisure will also arrange a private, behind-the-scenes tour of Harpa, the concert hall designed in conjunction with renowned artist Olafur Eliasson. Also explore the colorful backstreets of the town, and walk along the harbor. If desired, browse top boutiques for Icelandic crafts such as hand-knit sweaters and blankets. Other options include visiting the Arbaer Open Air Museum, Viking Village or the Imagine Peace Tower. Artisans of Leisure can also arrange tickets to performances and reservations at top restaurants, including Perlan, which has incredible views over the city.

Continue out the beautiful Snaefellsnes Peninsula. In the picturesque waterfront village of Stykkisholmur, visit the Norwegian Museum, an atmospheric 19th-century house-museum, or the Library of Water, an art installation. Also enjoy a Viking Sushi boat cruise among the islands to see geological formations and seabird colonies and sample fresh seafood pulled straight from the ocean. One day, visit Snaefellsjokull National Park to see Snaefellsjokull Glacier and venture deep inside Vatnshellir, an 8,000-year-old lava cave. Other options on the peninsula include walking on beaches, hiking through lava fields and seeing other interesting geological formations.

One day, enjoy the "Into the Glacier" tour of Langjokull Glacier, including venturing into a tunnel in the blue ice. During private touring, also see Hraunfossar Waterfall, which streams through a lava field.

Next, transfer to beautiful South Iceland with your private driver-guide. En route, tour some of Iceland's most important and impressive natural features in the Golden Circle. Visit Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Althing (Icelandic assembly) met for over 850 years in a spectacular rift valley formed by drifting tectonic plates. Also, visit a family farm where produce is grown year-round in greenhouses heated by geothermal energy. If desired, opt to take a dip in the Secret Lagoon, a unique natural hot spring. Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can arrange ATV excursions in the region. In Geysir, watch as Strokkur Geyser erupts, and see Gullfoss, a waterfall that plunges into a gorge. Continue to your South Iceland hotel, which is in an ideal location for watching the aurora borealis (Northern Lights) in the winter.

Next, transfer along the southern coast of Iceland to the stunning Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. En route, see waterfalls, black sand beaches, sea stacks and the beautiful landscapes of Skaftafell in the southern edge of Vatnajokull National Park. Also, cruise among floating chunks of glacial ice on Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.

Return along the southern coast. Stop to explore Fjadrargljufur Canyon, and take an exhilarating walk on Solheimajokull Glacier. Continue to your South Iceland hotel for 1 night.

En route to or from the Reykjavik airport, opt to relax at the famed Blue Lagoon, a geothermal hot spring and spa.

Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can incorporate additional activities such as whale watching or puffin excursions, horseback riding, Icelandic cooking classes, meeting with Icelandic designers, hiking, mountain biking, an excursion into a volcano, ATV rides, and tours of noted art and architecture sites.

This tour combines well with Northern Iceland.
