(9 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken & Berner Oberland, Zermatt, Lausanne
This private family tour of Switzerland is an ideal combination of Swiss villages, alpine landscapes, great food, and luxury hotels in the country’s most beautiful and most family-friendly destinations.
Begin in Zurich, one of Europe’s most sophisticated cities. During flexible private touring, see the highlights of the Old Town, with its atmospheric backstreets.
Next, you will be transferred to Lucerne, a picture-perfect Swiss town on the shore of Lake Lucerne, to explore highlights such as the Chapel Bridge, a landmark covered wooden bridge containing paintings of the city history. Continue to Interlaken, the gateway to the dramatic mountain landscapes of the Berner Oberland. One day, enjoy a privately guided excursion into the Swiss Alps aboard mountain trains. At the Sphinx observatory platform atop Jungfraujoch (elevation 11,388 feet), see enormous glaciers, impressive peaks such as the Eiger, and verdant valleys far below. Perhaps opt for hiking, tubing, sledding or other activities on the snow. Throughout the journey, stop in villages such as Wengen and Grindelwald to take in the spectacular views.
En route to Zermatt, enjoy a cable car ride into the mountains, and explore the forest on an exciting ropes course. Continue to Zermatt, home of the Matterhorn, one of the most iconic mountains in the world. Enjoy a private via ferrata excursion through beautiful Gorner Gorge, including rappelling, climbing and zip lining. Time permitting, walk through the historic town center, and visit the Matterhorn Museum to learn about the traditional local lifestyle and the human drama surrounding the majestic mountain that looms over the region. Alternatively, take a cog railway up to Gornergrat, the best place to take in views of the Matterhorn, as well as the glaciers, mountain valleys and villages below.
Continue with your private driver to Lausanne and the beautiful Lake Geneva region for a stay at the elegant Beau-Rivage Palace—one of the best luxury hotels in Switzerland—among lush parkland on the shore of the lake.
One day, take a private excursion in the surrounding region to visit Chateau de Chillon, Switzerland’s most interesting castle, and the Lavaux wine region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of 800-year-old terraced vineyards that skirt the edge of Lake Geneva and offer dramatic views of the Alps. Artisans of Leisure will arrange for you to enjoy exclusive activities such as private wine tasting and a private chocolate making experience at a local confectioner.
Another day, enjoy a private excursion to Gruyeres, an atmospheric medieval hill town. Artisans of Leisure will arrange activities such as a tour of a cheese-making facility and tasting of local cheeses, including the region’s renowned Gruyere cheese. Also, enjoy reservations for a fondue or raclette lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants. Other options include touring a renowned chocolate factory; visiting Chaplin’s World, the former house and estate of Charlie Chaplin; exploring the Olympic Museum or the historic center of Lausanne; or spending time at the hotel’s excellent spa, restaurants and leisure facilities.
This tour can be extended to include additional destinations in Switzerland or neighboring countries.
