This adventurous tour of Namibia focuses on two of the country’s most dramatic and remote landscapes.

Begin with an overnight in Windhoek, the modern capital of Namibia. Next, fly to the Skeleton Coast, a remote wilderness where towering sand dunes meet the pounding surf of the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy an excursion along the coast, including one way by scenic flight, and see shipwrecks, the Mowe Bay seal colony and sandy beaches. Other activities include nature drives to look for hyenas, lions and elephants; scenic walks; learning about desert predators from wildlife researches; searching for birds unique to the area; sundowner cocktails in the sand dunes; and excursions to more remote areas of the camp’s concession.

Continue to Hartmann’s Valley in Kaokoveld, an isolated region in far northern Namibia. Stay at a lodge on the edge of the Kunene River, a life-sustaining resource in the rugged, arid landscape of rocky hills, sand dunes and gravel plains. Among the many activities at the lodge are nature walks to look for gemsboks, ostriches and other wildlife; river cruises to see Nile crocodiles and unusual birds that live in the greenery along the riverbanks; quad biking through dramatic landscapes; and meeting members of the Himba, a semi-nomadic community living in the region.
