This private Saudi Arabia tour features private touring of the top historical and cultural attractions in Riyadh, time to relax and recharge at an unforgettable Red Sea resort, and private touring of the beautiful desert landscapes and evocative archaeological sites in AlUla and the historical sites in the port city of Jeddah.
Begin in Riyadh, the modern capital of Saudi Arabia. During private touring, learn about the history and culture of the Arabian Peninsula, the origins of Islam and more at the National Museum. See important historical sites such as Murabba Palace, a former royal residence built in the 1930s, and Al-Masmak Fortress, a fortified adobe (mud-brick) palace completed in 1865. Go to the Sky Bridge high atop Kingdom Tower—a Riyadh landmark— for panoramic views over the capital. Also enjoy a private excursion to Diriyah and the At-Turaif district, an ancient Saudi capital and UNESCO World Heritage Site of atmospheric mud-brick architecture. Also visit Al-Bujairi Heritage Park.
Next, fly to the Red Sea and travel by speedboat to Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, a luxurious beach resort in the Ummahat Islands that was designed by Foster + Partners. During time at leisure, relax in the plunge pool at your private villa, go for a walk on the white sand beach, swim in the clear blue water or book appointments at the spa. Other options include snorkeling and diving on coral reefs to spot tropical fish and sea turtles; kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and windsurfing in the lagoon; and stargazing from your private deck.
Continue to AlUla, a desert oasis of palm and citrus groves surrounded by dramatic sandstone mountains. During private touring, explore the awe-inspiring remains of Hegra, an ancient Nabataean city that’s now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. See iconic Qasr al-Farid and other monumental Nabataean tombs carved into sandstone outcroppings and cliff faces 2,000 years ago. Also tour the ruins of Dadan, once the capital of the Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms, including the Lion Tombs carved into stone cliffs and the nearby petroglyphs of Jabal Ikmah, a mountain with so many rock inscriptions that it’s known as an open-air library. See the distinctive Elephant Rock outcropping and venture to the Harrat Viewpoint to take in panoramas over the oasis and the extraordinary sandstone mountains and rock spires of the region. Walk on the AlUla Oasis Heritage Trail to learn more about traditional farm life among the area’s two million palm trees and visit AlUla Old Town, the atmospheric historic village of mud-brick houses that was the center of oasis life for more than 800 years. Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can also arrange activities such as hot-air balloon rides over AlUla and seeing contemporary art installations in the desert.
End in Jeddah, a port city on the Red Sea coast that was founded in the seventh century and has long been the gateway to Makkah (Mecca). Enjoy a private tour of Al-Balad, the historic city center and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can arrange additional activities, such as a visit to teamLab Borderless Jeddah.
