Tokaj Wine Region, Budapest & Szentendre
This private luxury tour features the best of Hungary's centuries-old winemaking traditions, as well as the highlights of Budapest. It includes tastings of unusual local varietals and private touring at leading wine estates in Hungary's most renowned viticultural regions, as well as private cultural touring in Budapest and beautiful traditional villages.
Begin in the Tokaj Wine Region, a vast rural area that's been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its centuries-long history of wine production. During private touring, visit local wine cellars and sample different types of Tokaji wines, including aszu, a highly prized sweet white wine known as the "wine of kings, king of wines." Also, tour the cultural highlights of the town of Eger, such as the medieval castle, Turkish minaret, important churches and Baroque palaces, and taste the best local wines, including Egri Bikaver ("bull's blood") at a top winery.
Continue to Budapest, one of the most fascinating and historic cities in Central Europe. Tour the city with one of Hungary's most knowledgeable guides and experience our favorite places and activities. Browse local food and antique markets. Drive through hidden backstreets to see Budapest's most beautiful buildings and learn the role they played in the city's history. Explore the Castle District and take a tour of Buda's most exclusive residential districts. Experience the local bathing culture, and see indoor and outdoor baths that remain central to daily life. Tour museums according to your interests, such as decorative arts, Jewish history or music. Also take a tour of Parliament, a fascinating building crucial to the city's identity. Learn about the city's rich Jewish history and tour important synagogues (active and in ruins) including one designed by Otto Wagner. Also, enjoy reservations at the city's leading restaurants-an excellent opportunity to experience Hungary's superb wines. One evening, enjoy a romantic cruise on the Danube River. Stay at one of Europe's most luxurious and beautiful hotels hotels—a true work of art—and enjoy the spa and views over the Danube from your room.
One morning, take a private excursion to Szentendre, a charming artists' village, to see the Margit Kovacs Museum, visit boutiques and walk backstreets lined with Baroque architecture.
This tour can easily be extended to include popular destinations in the surrounding region, such as Vienna and Prague.
