Culinary Tour of Israel

(9 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis)
Jerusalem, Galilee, Tel Aviv

This private culinary tour is the perfect way to learn about Israel's rich and diverse cultural heritage. It includes private visits to food markets, private cooking classes with local chefs, private wine tasting, special meals, private cultural touring and more.

Begin in Jerusalem, an incredibly historic city with a fascinating mix of cultures and flavors. During private touring, visit the legendary Mahane Yehuda Market with a renowned local chef to learn about culinary specialties such as pomegranate juice, chocolate rugelach, almond pastries and halvah, and gather ingredients for a private cooking class and lunch. Also watch baklava being made at a local bakery. Another day, learn about the cultural significance of challah during a meal at a local home. Enjoy a hummus tasting tour through the backstreets of the Old City, and visit a small factory that makes tahini. With your expert private guide, also explore the cultural history of the Jewish Quarter, Christian Quarter and other neighborhoods, including highlights such as the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Via Dolorosa, ancient synagogues, bazaars and atmospheric streets. Depending on interests, also opt to visit Jerusalem's most important museums, such as the Yad Vashem Holocaust History Museum and the Israel Museum.

Continue to the Galilee region, which is known for its beautiful landscapes, agricultural products, and important historical and biblical sites. En route, if desired, stop in Nazareth, the capital of Arab gastronomy in Israel, to visit a spice mill and enjoy a meal at a top local restaurant. Also visit a food market to see the types of produce grown in the region, and learn about the production of arak, a distilled spirit popular in the Middle East. Continue to a spa resort and organic farm in the hills for two nights. Alternatively, opt to stay at a kibbutz and experience excellent food and a traditional Israeli setting. During private culinary touring in the region, sample organic olive oils at a local press, taste wines at a top winery and make goat cheese at a dairy. Also take a four-wheel drive tour of the beautiful Golan Heights. Throughout your stay at the resort, enjoy meals made with fresh produce from their organic farm.

Next, venture to Tel Aviv, Israel's largest city. En route, stop in a Druze village for a hands-on cooking lesson and lunch in the home of a local family. Also visit the ancient port of Acre (Akko), a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with interesting ruins, as well as highly regarded hummus and seafood restaurants. Continue to Tel Aviv for two nights in a hotel with views of the beach and the Mediterranean Sea. During touring with your private guide, visit Levinsky Market to sample regional culinary specialties such as nuts, olives, dates and za'atar spice mix. One day, learn Hebrew words and expressions for various ingredients while stocking up at the Carmel Market, and then enjoy a hands-on cooking class in the home of a local chef. Also explore the cultural highlights of Tel Aviv according to your interests, such as the Neve Tzedek neighborhood, UNESCO-listed Bauhaus architecture, Old Jaffa, the Eretz Israel Museum and the Museum of the Jewish Diaspora.
