(11 Days - Departs Daily on a Private Basis) Cape Town, Kalahari Desert, Johannesburg, Madikwe Game Reserve
This private tour is perfect for those who prefer not to take malaria medication while traveling. It includes comprehensive private touring of Cape Town along with thrilling wildlife safaris at two of South Africa’s best luxury lodges—all located in malaria-free zones.
Begin in beautiful Cape Town and stay at one of our favorite luxury properties. Enjoy comprehensive private touring with one of Cape Town’s most knowledgeable guides. Learn about the city’s fascinating history and architecture; take a cable car to the top of the iconic Table Mountain; experience local markets, boutiques, museums, and noted African art galleries; and enjoy Cape Town’s incredible food and wine scene, including reservations at top restaurants. Depending on your interests, enjoy other highlights, such as Robben Island, Bo Kaap (the Cape Malay Quarter), and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. One day, take a private excursion along the scenic coastal road to the Cape Peninsula and visit the Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Beach and quaint seaside towns or opt to spend a day in the Winelands region with personalized wine tastings at South Africa’s best vineyards and a visit the charming towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Private yacht cruises, scenic helicopter flights, adventure activities, and day trips to Hermanus can also be arranged, upon request.
Spend the next three days in South Africa’s Kalahari Desert (malaria-free zone) for an unforgettable desert safari experience. Accommodation is at Tswalu, a luxury lodge in South Africa’s largest privately-owned game reserve. Set out with expert rangers on your own private game drives to view desert wildlife, including desert Black Rhino and other rare species such as black wildebeest and mountain zebra. Spend quality time with a habituated family of meerkats. Opt for a horseback safari or a bush walk, or have us arrange a hot air balloon ride over the veld.
Fly to Johannesburg for an overnight stay in the city’s most exclusive residential neighborhoods. Time permitting, a private guide and driver can be arranged upon request. “Joburg” has an excellent shopping and art scene and you might like to visit the city’s best gallery districts, designer shops, local African art markets, and up-and-coming neighborhoods. We also recommend the excellent Apartheid Museum or an insider’s tour of Soweto.
Continue to Madikwe Game Reserve, a malaria-free South African game reserve near the border of Botswana. This area offers a wide range of eco-zones and therefore a great variety of species, including the Big Five and cheetah. Stay at a luxury safari lodge and enjoy game drives with an expert ranger. Spend free time at the spa, at the pool, on a bush walk, or enjoying a cooking lesson in the kitchen.
