Santiago received a new addition to its stylish Lastarria neighborhood earlier this year with the opening of The Singular’s luxury boutique hotel The Singular Santiago. Santiago is a great jumping-off point for the rest of Chile, such as the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. Atacama is known for its geysers, salt pans, flamingos, volcano-studded landscapes and some of the world’s best stargazing. One of our favorite hotels in the area is Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa. The hotel’s unique architecture complements the dramatic surrounding environment without compromising luxury or comfort. Sustainability is a guiding principle, evident in the spa’s use of natural resources and the restaurant’s focus on native ingredients. Another favorite combination with Santiago is Chilean Patagonia, an area of craggy mountains, bright blue glaciers, crystalline lakes and gaucho culture.
