This private Switzerland tour features many of the cultural and scenic highlights of Switzerland, including the Glacier Express train from Zermatt to St. Moritz, and accommodation at several of the best luxury resorts in Switzerland.
Begin in Lausanne and the beautiful Lake Geneva region with a stay at the elegant Beau-Rivage Palace—one of the best luxury hotels in Switzerland—among lush parkland on the lakeshore. One day, take a private excursion in the surrounding region to visit Chateau de Chillon, Switzerland's most interesting castle, and the Lavaux wine region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of 800-year-old terraced vineyards that skirt the edge of Lake Geneva and offer dramatic views of the Alps. Artisans of Leisure will arrange for you to enjoy exclusive activities such as private wine tasting and a private chocolate-making experience at a local confectioner. Another day, enjoy a private excursion to Gruyeres, an atmospheric medieval hill town. During a hands-on cheese workshop, learn about cheese-making and taste local cheeses, including the region's renowned Gruyere cheese. Enjoy reservations for a fondue or raclette lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants. Also visit Chateau de Gruyeres, a medieval castle. Other nearby options include touring a renowned chocolate factory; visiting Chaplin's World, the former house and estate of Charlie Chaplin; exploring the Olympic Museum or the historic center of Lausanne; or spending time at the hotel's excellent spa, restaurants and leisure facilities.
Continue to Zermatt, and stay at a luxurious hotel with views of the Matterhorn, one of the most iconic mountains in the world. During private scenic touring of the region, take a cog railway up to Gornergrat for classic views of the Matterhorn. Another day, enjoy privately guided touring and hiking in the hills around Zermatt. Artisans of Leisure will arrange a lunch reservation at a restaurant with breathtaking views. Also tour the historic wooden buildings in the town center, and visit the Matterhorn Museum to learn about the traditional local lifestyle and the human drama surrounding the majestic mountain that looms over the region.
Next, enjoy Excellence class seats on the renowned Glacier Express train from Zermatt to Andermatt, admiring views of the Alps along the way. Stay one night in the Chedi Andermatt, a luxurious resort surrounded by high peaks. The following day, continue by Glacier Express to St. Moritz on the scenic route over spectacular Oberalp Pass, through the Ruinaulta (Rhine Gorge) and across the unforgettable stone viaducts of the Albula line, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed train route.
Continue on the Glacier Express train to sunny St. Moritz, an upscale resort town among the beautiful mountains and lakes of eastern Switzerland. Stay at legendary Badrutt's Palace, one of the most exclusive and distinctive hotels in the country. During private touring, visit a traditional wood-fired cheese-making workshop, and enjoy cable car rides and flexible guided hiking for spectacular and unforgettable views of mountains, glaciers and lakes in this extraordinary part of the Swiss Alps. Also enjoy free time to explore the town's upscale shops and restaurants, walk along the shoreline of Lake St. Moritz, or indulge in a treatment at the hotel spa.
For additional scenic train journeys, this tour can easily be extended to Italy with a ride on the Bernina Express.

Peru is an incredible country, it completely exceeded our expectations and we were so impressed by how friendly, genuine and beautiful it was. I can’t pick one word, but magical is at the top of the list! Our guides and drivers were top notch and all went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience possible. And the trains!! The way you organized the trains was brilliant, thank you! Vistadome on the way up to Machu Picchu and Hiram Bingham on the way down – perfect! The Andean Explorer is unbelievable! The service, food, décor/quality of the train, people…I could go on and on, it was beyond anything we have experienced. We were treated like royalty everywhere we went.

Our Japan trip was fabulous! All the hotels, escorts, guides, train rides, car rides, tours were awesome! The hotels were beautiful. I think the ryokan experience might have changed my kids’ lives. Our guide was enjoyed by my entire family. She is the best guide we have ever had on any trip. Thank you again for a really tremendous trip. I plan on using Artisans of Leisure for our next adventure!

The India trip was fantastic. My favorite parts were the train ride (including getting on the train), visiting a temple during a color festival prelude in Udaipur, and trying something called egg curry on our impromptu ride from Jaipur to Udaipur. Thank you so much for organizing everything.
